 Innovation and Entrepreneurship Department (IED)

Innovation and Entrepreneurship Department (IED) was established by King Abdullah International Medical Research Center (KAIMRC) to manage intellectual property generated by researchers, faculty, clinicians and students.

IED’s mission includes identifying, capturing, registering and maintaining patents and trademarks at patent offices around the world. Additional services include patent licensing and the promotion of intellectual property’s awareness. IED emphasizes on maximizing R&D’s return on investment to contribute to knowledge-based economy in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.


  • To help researchers, faculty, clinicians, students, and any innovators who are affiliated with MNG-HA to safeguard intellectual property.
  • To provide support for innovators to identify innovative ideas; and to file their patent applications across the globe.
  • To facilitate the translation of MNG-HA’s innovations for the benefit of the patients and to make an economic impact.
  • To promote innovation awareness among all MNG-HA affiliated centers, hospitals and colleges throughout Saudi Arabia.
  • To facilitate the commercialization of new technologies, in partnership with KAIMRC Medical Biotechnology Park.
  • To create strategic partnerships with local and international business that will in turn enhance healthcare services.​​
